Custom 3D Modeling

Pelican produces custom 3D building models for your 3D GIS or visualization application. We use commercial tools to build models that cannot be generated automatically. They are specifically designed to integrate into 3D terrain datasets and work with scalable visualization applications.

Experience to handle the toughest jobs

Most of our modelers have 10+ years of experience in 3D modeling and visualization. In addition to providing 3D models to your specifications, Pelican can tune these models for a range of visualization systems. Pelican can provide 3D models in your choice of popular 3D formats as well as custom formats for specialized apps. And by combining a 3D modeling capability with 3D software development, we can deliver models conforming to the most obscure requirements when it is not possible with off-the-shelf 3D model conversion.

• Popular formats. We create models in popular runtime formats including OpenFlight, Sketchup, 3D Max, or OBJ that will work in many commercial or custom environments including those based on OpenSceneGraph.
• Any data source. We can start with GIS footprints or mesh data if available. Or we can start with nothing but photos or blueprints.
• Source data collection. For modeling real places, we will travel on-site and collect measurements and digital photos of the target site if required.

Managing large-scale projects

For project involving dozens, hundreds or even thousands of photo-real buildings, we will try to apply automation and automated tools wherever possible. Otherwise we will sort site models by priority and work with our partner network to get the job done at a very economical cost.
